Overview
Explore one of Table Mountain’s most scenic and historically rich routes on this guided hike up Kasteelspoort. This classic gorge ascent combines a steady climb with dramatic mountain scenery, unique viewpoints, and a rewarding finish on the Back Table.
What to Expect
We begin our hike on the Atlantic-facing slopes of Table Mountain, following a well-defined trail that climbs steadily into the heart of Kasteelspoort. From the start, the route offers beautiful views over Camps Bay and the coastline, with the sense of space increasing as we gain height.
As we move higher, the trail winds through rocky terrain and along natural gullies, with sections of uneven ground and stone steps that add variety without becoming technical. I’ll guide you at a comfortable, steady pace, ensuring safe footing while allowing time to enjoy the scenery.
Higher up, the gorge opens onto the Back Table, where the terrain levels out and the mountain feels wide and expansive. Depending on the route variation, we may visit historic sites such as the remains of old cableway structures or nearby viewpoints overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
After enjoying time on top, we descend via the same route or a planned alternative, finishing with a relaxed return and a strong sense of achievement.
