Iconic summit panorama
Take on one of Cape Town’s most rewarding summit hikes on this guided ascent of Devil’s Peak. Less crowded than neighbouring routes, this hike offers a strong sense of adventure, varied terrain, and spectacular views over the City Bowl, Table Bay, and Table Mountain’s eastern slopes.
We begin on the lower slopes of Devil’s Peak, following a well-established trail that climbs steadily through fynbos and rocky terrain. From early on, the route offers expanding views over the city, giving a clear sense of progress as we gain height.
As we ascend, the trail becomes steeper and more rugged, with rocky steps and short scrambling sections that add to the challenge without being overly technical. I’ll guide you at a steady, manageable pace, offering support and choosing the safest lines through the more uneven sections.
Near the top, the terrain opens up and the sense of space becomes dramatic. The summit of Devil’s Peak provides sweeping views across Cape Town, Table Bay, Robben Island, and across to the Back Table of Table Mountain. It’s a quieter, more exposed-feeling summit that rewards the effort with a real mountain atmosphere.
After taking time to rest and enjoy the views, we descend via the same route, finishing with a relaxed return as the city gradually comes back into view below.
